Our Mission
Our mission is to teach and be living examples of the word of God so that souls can be saved, lives can be changed, and gifts can be awakened through the reviving and regenerative power of the HolySpirit.
We are committed to building strong communities. We do this by ministering to the needs of the whole family, realizing that strong families build strong communities. We also do this by being a resource of provision for those in need in the community, which helps to restore hope and breaks the chains of hopelessness.
We are fully submitted to this mission therefore fulfilling the great commission given by Jesus Christ in Matthew 28: 19 - 20:
19 Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. 20 Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.
Meet
Our Pastors
Pastor JJ and Trina Hairston are the founding Senior Pastors of The Gathering Place in Washington, D.C., a ministry they faithfully birthed in the midst of the global pandemic. With a vision rooted in healing, restoration, and authentic worship, they launched the church during one of the most uncertain times in recent history-answering God's call to create a safe, Spirit-led space for people to encounter Christ and grow in faith.
Married for over 30 years, the Hairstons began their ministry journey by pouring into marriages and families, using their own testimony to help couples build strong, Christ-centered relationships. That same heart for connection and transformation continues to fuel their leadership today.
They are proud parents to three children and three grandchildren. Whether through worship, the Word, or family ministry, Pastors JJ and Trina Hairston lead with authenticity, compassion, and a relentless dedication to pointing people back to Jesus.
